17 Fleet Street

Godsmark Architecture were architects for the addition of a flagpole to a Grade 11* listed. building in the City of London.

17 Fleet Street was one of only a few timber framed buildings to survive the Great Fire of London. It was refracted in the eighteenth century but this was removed in the late nineteenth to reveal a timber-framed building. The first floor houses Prince Henry's Room with elaborate plasterwork, now a museum. The upper floor house the offices of the devolved Government of Catalonia who wanted to show their presence. There is a tradition of flagpoles on Fleet Street and flags are displayed during the Lord Mayor's Show as they have been for centuries.
