Godsmark Architecture has a track record in cultural buildings including the Henry Wood Hall in South London.
The Henry Wood Hall is a Grade II listed concert rehearsal room and recording venue located in an early nineteenth century former church in London.
Godsmark Architecture was appointed in 2005 to prepare a feasibility report for improvements to the main performance space, improving disabled access and facilities and restoring the external fabric of the building. This report was accepted and the work has been proceeding in phases ever since.
To date we have implemented the first stage of the disabled access works, progressed some of the recommendations for the performance space and restored the masonry gateposts to the forecourt.
We procured tenders for the restoration of the external fabric and helped to make a Heritage Lottery application to assist with financing these works.
The final stages of work will involve inserting a new lift in the entrance area of the building, creating new conductor’s rooms, a new music library and designing a new exhibition area in the crypt as part of the organisation’s educational remit.
